WILMA ARCHER DECADES (FT. LAURA GROVES AND SAMUEL T. HERRING)

London-based producer and instrumentalist Wilma Archer has joined forces with Future Islands front man Samuel T. Herring and XL-singed singer-songwriter Laura Groves on an earnest new track called ‘Decades’. ‘Decades’ is the second track from Wilma Archer’s newly announced record A Western Circular, following the previously released ‘Last Sniff’. Dramatic medieval drum sounds introduce the song, followed by melancholic textured organ chords. Samuel T. Herring’s distinct vocals are powerful and heart felt in their delivery, whilst the breathy backing vocals that accompany set a dreamy atmosphere. Laura Groves' verse sees her sugared vocals layered with a parallel harmony, then converging and juxtaposing with the low and soulful tone of T. Herring’s voice. Later, the tune expands as it gains more drums, and a floral vocal part sung by Groves. The simplicity of the production allows for these talented vocalists to really shine bright. ‘Decades’ is out now on Domino Records - check it out. -Ellie Rose-Davies
